May and June
Christmas trees look wonderful with cones on, at least they do in early summer (see left), but by Christmas they shatter and completely spoil the look of the tree.
So, unfortunately they have to be removed – by hand. This is a painstaking and tedious job that can take many weeks.
By this time of year we must finish pruning as the trees are now in active growth. This also means that weeds are growing, so we have to make sure all old tree stumps are removed before they are hidden under dense foliage.
Our trees in pots also need repotting or they will outgrow their pots and become stunted.
